The meaning behind Bureau Curo
The name CURO comes from the Latin word curare, which means “to care for.” This meaning perfectly reflects the heart of my practice: supporting parents who, by nature, already care deeply for and love their child.
“My role is to offer just that little bit of extra support, so that you feel stronger and more confident in finding solutions that truly fit your situation. I believe in a warm and personal approach, where parents feel heard, supported, and empowered to work with me towards creating peace and balance for the whole family.”
My story
My interest in parenting and child development has always felt natural. From a young age, I was genuinely curious about how children grow and how parents play a role in that process. This curiosity led me to study Pedagogy, where I had the opportunity to deepen my passion for early childhood development.
I took elective courses such as Infant Mental Health, where I learned about the emotional and mental well-being of young children, and I explored the biological and psychological foundations of development through my minor. These insights still shape the way I work today. But what stood out most was discovering my own strength in coaching parents, in having positive, supportive conversations that help them feel truly seen and equipped with tools that make a real difference.
My most recent experience in a hospital setting further deepened this calling. As a pediatric care professional, I was jointly responsible, together with two pediatricians, for the Crying Baby Clinic at BovenIJ Hospital. In this role, I worked closely with parents in a medical environment, often at times when stress and uncertainty were already high.
This experience showed me how essential it is to create a safe and supportive space for parents during such a vulnerable phase. I learned how powerful it is to combine medical knowledge with genuine attention, calm, and connection. My strength lies in helping parents feel seen, understood, and supported, bringing clarity and confidence to an often overwhelming period.
Building on this foundation, I now work in my own practice as a parenting specialist. I offer an accessible and informal space where parents can come with their questions about their young child. A place where there is time to share their story, where they are truly listened to, and where we work together to find what a family needs to regain more calm and confidence.
My passion for supporting parents and children goes beyond a career. I truly believe every parent deserves to feel supported in this important stage of life. With care, expertise, and attention, this is what I aim to offer through Bureau Curo: a place where parents feel welcome and at ease as they grow into their role as parents alongside their child.
Warm regards,
Anne Laarman (Founder of Bureau Curo)
