Information for referring professionals

About Bureau Curo

Bureau Curo provides pedagogical guidance to parents during the first months and year after the birth of their baby. As a pedagogical professional with extensive experience at the crying baby clinic of BovenIJ Hospital, I work alongside medical care providers and focus on practical support, regulation, and strengthening parental confidence. My approach is warm, personal, and concrete: parents receive clear, practical tools that can be directly applied in their home situation.

Parenting Support

I also provide parenting support for parents of children aged 2 to 16. Personal guidance is central, and I help with questions about behavior, development, and family life.

When to refer

Referral is suitable when parents have questions or uncertainties, for example if the baby is very restless or cries a lot, if there are sleep difficulties in the first months, if parents feel overwhelmed, or if there is tension around care and sleep. It is also helpful when parents find it hard to connect with their baby

For other themes related to parenting children aged 2–16 years, further information can be found under the “Parenting Consultation” section in the menu.

What can parents expect?

Parents start with an intake session (at the practice or at the family’s home). I observe the interaction and look at both the parents’ and the child’s needs. I then offer practical advice that fits the family’s situation. If needed, follow-up sessions can be arranged.

On average, two to three consultations, including an evaluation session, are sufficient to help a family move forward.

Reimbursement

At present, this type of support is not reimbursed by health insurance. Parents pay for the consultations directly and receive an invoice accordingly.

Practical information

Parents can contact me directly; a referral letter is not necessary, though a short message from the referring professional is appreciated.

Service Area

I am based in Amsterdam and work in the surrounding region. Information about current availability (parents can usually be seen within the same week) and fees is available on the website.

Collaboration and Feedback

If appropriate, I am happy to stay in contact with the referring professional. Any feedback is shared in agreement with the parents and only with their consent. Phone consultation or collaboration with other professionals is always welcome

Contact

If you are unsure whether a family would be a good fit, please feel free to contact me without obligation. I am happy to think along with you.

Advantages compared to larger healthcare providers

  • Parents can almost always be seen without delay.

  • The duration of consultations is flexible and can be determined together with the parents.

  • Parents always see the same professional.

  • Flexible consultation formats: sessions can take place at the practice, in the family’s home, or online if preferred.

  • Bureau Curo offers an appropriate alternative for families who fall outside the medical framework, helping to prevent unnecessary referrals or repeat consultations.
